Social Work Services
PACCS is excited to offer, in addition to our clinical nurse consultants, a social worker.
The primary focus of palliative care Social Work is psychological adjustment to illness and anticipated death, including crisis intervention, anticipatory grief, bereavement counselling, and exploration of existential, spiritual, and meaning-of-life issues.
Social Workers are well placed to work with complex family dynamics which often arise during a time of crisis and have the expertise to facilitate difficult discussions with the client/and or family members at a vulnerable time in their life.
Social workers also help people with a life-limiting condition and their families by assisting with practical difficulties around social, financial, and legal matters and navigating systems to access appropriate community supports and services.
